Our Growing Boy

I took Garrett in for his 18 month well baby check today. Yes, its a month late but I had to procrastinate with this one because he needed to have his iron levels re checked and with his recent illnesses he wasn't eating well or getting his iron supplement on a regular basis. Plus, he isnt due for shots until he is 2 so I knew it was ok to be a little late. He was such a trooper. They poked his finger to squeeze out blood for the test and he just sat there. He didn't make a sound. And when he was done he got a bandaid which really made his day. Although between the time the lab tech took Garrett's blood and the time his pediatrician came in he did remember that they had poked his finger and got a very concerned look on his face and pointed to his finger tip... on the opposite hand! LOL Garrett's Iron is normal now! I am so pleased to report this. We have been on iron supplements since they checked his levels at his 9 month check up. He is 23.6 lbs and 33 inches long. He is 10-20 percentile for weight and 75-90 percentile for height. We have a tall boy who is as healthy as a horse. He now gets to take big boy vitamins (flintstones) and flouride tablets. It might not sound very exciting, but it sure beats those nasty liquid vitamin/flouride combo he was getting. He still has the Cardullo stomach, his reflux is pretty persistant so he will live on prevacid and zantac until his 2 year check up. Then we will go from there. We love Garrett's pediatrician, Dr. Carter. She is wonderful and very thorough and I wish that we can take her with us when we move next year. She has been with us since Garrett's first check up at 2 weeks old. As a matter of fact, when Garrett was 6 months old she showed me a picture of her youngest son at that age and Garrett and him could have been identical twins! Can you believe that he will turn two in 4 1/2 months? Where are the years going? My baby can't be that big already!!!
