Nature Walk

It's been so cold and nasty and wet lately that we have basically been housebound so today since it had warmed just a tad... I mean JUST a tad, we decided to go check out a state park near us. There is a great hiking trail (well we assume its great, but how much of a hike could there possibly be in the Louisiana swamplands?) and nature trail. Of course we took the nature trail so Garrett could walk, plus we had high hopes of seeing some native animals! The nature trail was about a mile long and Garrett walked the entire way, with the exception of having to be carried across puddles. He did run through plenty, we just helped with the deep ones! We saw the ruins of an old Sugar Mill, a real LIVE armadillo, various birds like a yellow finch that was hopping in the brush. Garrett thought that was funny and starting hopping too! There were tons of old oak trees covered in spanish moss and lots of marshy scenery! This outing afforded me the opportunity to experiment with the new lens I bought for my camera. I have some learning to do but I hope to master it soon! We ended our walk with a nice picnic back at the car! It was a great day and so nice to be outdoors! Enjoy the mass amounts of pictures!
